Fall-winter 11-12

Barely one foot in the long corridor backstage, a door opens and I come face to face with Juun.J !

Wearing a trench coat with his black-framed glasses, he greeted me politely, a bit intimidated.

The room’s black parade, the lighting and cramped room, a brief look at the outfits : I was already conquered by this collection and this shooting to the atmosphere and light movie !

Also very inspired by the 7th art (by David Lynch in Ridley Scott through Michael Curtiz and Sergio Leone), Juun.J surprises us from season to season by his creative renewal impregnated ying and yang.

This genius from Korea knows cleverly mix styles and genres, punk-rock, classic, retro and futuristic …

Fall-Winter collection plays on the juxtaposition of jackets and the game handles, the arms are released from the trench, suits and leather jackets for maximum freedom of movement with a touch of chic … The shoes even have the same spirit of freedom well shod but open-believe …

I can not wait to meet again this designer in his next collection. I had the privilege to remain backstage during the show !

Thank you Juun. J !

PFW | EHUD

January 19th, 2011, 7pm. Gallery Jean-Luc & Takado Richard.

Men’s fashion which started yesterday in Paris will unveil more than ever silhouettes focused on creativity and diversity by hosting a bunch of worldwide designers. EHUD or the Fashion for Man reinvented is opening the set.

EUHD or the men’s fashion reinvented. This Israeli graduate of Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design was launched in 2009 and signed by his first collection at this Paris Fashion Week.

The silhouette is very attractive and impeccably cut, composed of gray, black, decorated with vinyl, leather, wool, and sometimes with a hint of red blood…

Just below a slideshow of this collection featuring some israeli rock music, a band called Asaf Avidan ! Thirtysomething born in Jerusalem and graduated from the National Art School in Israel, he is accompanied by live band The Mojos. In 2008 they released their first album described as « the most important album of the Israeli scene. »

Enjoy it !

Meet new contributor Anita Leung

Photo – We met Anita and I during a fashion week when I told her that the heels (her heels in fact) were not such a « good idea » in the pack of photographers where we had found refuge that day…

Fortunately she took it well.

Anita is Asian, born in Africa and lives in Paris. She shoots her first pictures at the age of 8 and has left, not long ago, her old analog camera.

Trying to capture a facial expression or a detail of tailoring during the fittings or the makeup with our Canon, we often met in the backstages.

I like her artistic process and her work. Having worked for the web editions of l’Officiel, Vogue, Elle or Harper’s Bazaar, but also for Franck Sorbier or Anne-Valerie Hash, Anita is not only a fashion photographer, check her website here to know more.

When I knew that she had posted a video (featuring Godspeed You Black Emperor! a very good choice for the soundtrack indeed) of the previous fashion week, I immediately wanted to share it with you. Enjoy it!

La Fiona

Porto Fashion week, spring summer 2010-

During the three days of fashion shows in Porto, Fiona Bunnett was sitting next to me. I must confess that i didn’t know her before Caroline told me who she is. It’s when i understand that the front row in front of us wasn’t looking at me…

Supermodel with androgynous-appearance (think Kristen McMenamy), her modeling career spread mainly in Portugal, where she is a big star. I pictured her in the bastidores (backstages in english) before the show of an other star: Fatima Lopez.

I do like this photo for the drama atmosphere, the heavy make up, something between italian neo-realism and german expressionism films.

Détails | La garçonne

La garçonne at Nino Cerruti and a beautiful lingerie detail on the back, Paris fashion week men summer-spring 2011

Effet de détails dans le dos, de longs rubans rose pale à l’esprit lingerie. Le dos c’est aussi celui de Mireille Darc dans le film « Le grand blond avec une chaussure noire ».

Guy Laroche design a famous dress for french actress Mireille Darc in the seventies. Generally designers rarely focus on the back, is it a question of confidence for the women, a fear of being backstabed or of being slandered ?
