Erwin Wurm, the austrian artist, well known for is « one minute sculptures », who like to use humor and absurd, talk about the use of garments in his work in a documentary.
« I had the idea of knitting, but I have no passion for that, i am interested by the elasticity and the color palette, with fabric that would be more difficult to cover ».
« I brought clothes for these statues shaped box, I am interested in clothing as a second skin and a sculpture in the end, but… it’s still a garment in a way ».
« I used sweaters in the 80s and early 90s and I use them again now », Erwin Wurm is looking for the shorted path to create a sculpture, above are some quick sculptures made of wood and sweaters.
