Further to the trompe l’oeil exhibition started yesterday at Musée des Arts Décoratifs, here are some pictures of the surreal creations of Elsa Schiaparelli.
These photos are taken from the book Unravel, knitting in fashion, catalog of the exhibition that took place at the MoMu of Antwerp MoMu a few months ago.

Marc Jacobs vs Elsa Schiaparelli
En voyant les détails chaussures du défilé SS 2008 de Marc Jacobs, je n’ai pu m’empêcher immédiatement de faire un rapprochement avec une réalisation d’Elsa Schiaparelli ; « rivale » de Gabrielle Chanel et grande amie, comme elle, des surréalistes…
Chapeau « chaussure » d’Elsa Schiaparelli qui excellait dans le style « trompe l’œil ».
Mais c’est surtout à l’artiste français underground Pierre Molinier, dont l’œuvre est centrée sur le fétichisme érotique, ami des surréalistes et particulièrement d’André Breton que Marc Jacobs fait référence.
