Panic at la Cité (Haï dikke haï !)

From left to right: Christophe Bourseiller, Kiki Picasso, David Sanson, Eric de Chassey –

Last week during a conference at Europunk exhibition at Cité de la Musique an unpublished video was shown. It represent the performance in 1978, of Panic a netherland punk band lead by Peter Ten Seldam. The purpose was an introduction to the debate on what punk was politically, musically and aesthetically, far from Beyoncé outfit at the opening of this spring’s MET exhibition « Punk: Chaos to Couture ». So far from what punk was really.

The last song on my shitty-video « Requiem for Martin Heidegger » (sic) is a must !

The documentary was assembled by Duco Donk

Live | Crystal Castles at Le Trianon, Paris

After having seeing them seven times, i have to admit that going to Crystal Castles show is always the same… The stage is plunged into darkness, no lights for the musicians except the stroboscopes that helps creates the electro-trance atmosphere.

During one hour Ethan Kath, the man in the shadow, play the electro-low-fi-punk music as Alice Glass is screaming and throwing herself into the crowd, it’s a performance.

Radical

Three untitled albums later, the music is darker than ever and the band seem to have no plans and no compromises, no desire of being glamour like many other bands.

« Music and lights », the « shitty » video below… (you spend more time fighting in the pit, than seeing the show…)

LIVE IT UP: VIVE LA FÊTE

LAST NIGHT, VIVE LA FÊTE, BELGIAN ROCK BAND WAS PLAYING LOUD THEIR ELECTRO-ROCK MUSIC AT LA MACHINE DU MOULIN ROUGE IN PARIS. AT THE SAME TIME JAYZ-Z AND KANYE WEST WERE DOING THEIR GREAT « WATCH THE THRONE » SHOW AT PARIS BERCY.

ELS PYNOO, VOCALS, WEARING MARLIES DEKKER’S BRA, IS TERRIFIC. SHE IS SURE A MUSE AND IT IS NOT SURPRISING THAT KARL LAGERFELD ASK THE BAND TO PLAY FOR VARIOUS CHANEL SHOW IN 2002.
ROCK’N’ROLL POWER !

Colette Music Box | Grimes & Chevalier Avant Garde

The Arcade Fire, Godspeed You!

Ci-dessous, Chevalier Avant Garde

The Kills, kills, kills !

The other night, inhabited by the demon of rock the magnetic duo were on stage at Le Bataclan. Each one in a corner of the scene, each one in his own universe, playing their sound, raw and minimal.

No partners, alone with their drum machine. Alison Mosshart, hanging on the microphone, her hair blocking her face, is a feline without artifice. Jamie Hince, firm and determined is sometimes holding his guitar like an assault rifle.

And despite all the hype, uncompromising rock, resisting of current trends and other ephemera.

The usual shitty video below (with Kate Moss and Stefano Pilati inside !)

Please to meet you Courtney

During the fashion week SS 2011 it was a pleasure to assist at miss Courtney Love’s showcase hosted by Le Printemps Paris, a party set by V magazine.

Enjoy the grungy-cover of Madonna’s « Like a prayer » and look at the Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy’s lace-only-nothing-to-hide outfit of the rock-goddess.

And yes, the shitty video is here !

Egérie | Emily Haines

Dear readers,

because music is an important part of my inspiration everyday, i want to share with you this video footage of Emily Haines and her band Metric taken during their unique live show in Paris in may.

This canadian band is not very famous in France, but i really love them from years now (as Lou Reed does…). So when i saw that they will play here, i didn’t think twice and click OK imediately.

Metric show was hypnotic, Emily Haines leader of the canadian band, precious in her sequin mini-skirt and wearing a floral brooch on a silver top is a serious rock star, giving it all during the set. Amazing!

Pump up the volume and watch the shitty (and yes very long) video !
